Thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to Teacher/Staff Appreciation Week. Sandwiches on Monday, two storm days (!), a candy table from the student leadership group, coffee, pastries and soup/chili from the school council and parents, and a cake from our MHA, Bernard Davis, we definitely felt appreciated! A big thanks as well to members of the Art Club, who captured the essence of each one of our staff members.

Many of you will have heard by now of the events that happened Sunday night in Quebec City, where there was a shooting in a mosque during evening prayers. Six men have died, and many more are injured.
The St. Paul’s school community wants to express our solidarity and support for the families in Quebec City who have lost their loved ones, and for the broader Muslim community who has been the target of this act of violence. As a gesture of support, we will send a delegation of students and teachers to the event “Human Shield— Protect our Mosques St. John’s”. This delegation will include our school’s Student Leadership group, many of our Muslim students as well as some St. Paul’s staff.
Students may also attend with their parents – this event is open to the public. People are asked to come to the mosque at 430 Logy Bay Rd. in St. John’s on Friday around 12:30 to greet members going in for prayers. More information can be found on Facebook at (https://www.facebook.com/events/418719868470798/) or in the Telegram.
Reminder of the drug presentation for parents this evening at 7:00 in the Learning Resource Centre. We look forward to seeing you there!
The RNC will also be in tomorrow and on Feb. 17th to deliver the STRIVE program (violence education) to our Grade 8 students.
